Fusion 360 launches on Mac App Store By: Posted 4 years ago Welcome to the family of professional apps. Fusion 360 is the first professional CAD/CAM solution to be launch on the Mac App Store, and has been something we’ve wanted to do for a long time.

After hearing how many of you wanted a better way to install Fusion 360 on the Mac, we knew that this was a natural progression for Fusion 360. While we work on pushing our regular product updates every 6 weeks, a portion of the team has also worked simultaneously on getting Fusion 360 ready for the launch. Needless to say, all the late nights and cups of coffee have finally paid off. An evolutionary step forward. As of July 15, 2014, we stopped support for Inventor Fusion, only because Fusion 360 is ready to be its replacement.

Inventor Fusion was great direct modeler with its clean UI, its simplicity, and modeling performance. When we started working on Fusion 360, the team made sure that we carried over everything you told us you loved about Inventor Fusion and incorporated it with all the latest technologies we’ve been co-creating with the community for Fusion 360. After a little over a year and 12 updates later, Fusion 360 has evolved into a robust cloud-based collaborative product development solution, from concept to manufacturing. You have questions, we have answers. We anticipated that you may have a bunch of questions about this launch, so here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. How much will Fusion 360 cost on the Mac App Store? Fusion 360 will be $39.99/month or $299.99/year, following a 30-day free period.

After the free period ends, select the subscription you want to buy and your iTunes account will be automatically charged the monthly or annual subscription rate. During my 30-day free period, will I have full access to Fusion360? During your first 30-days, you will have access to all the features and capabilities of Fusion 360. There’s no difference between the free period and paid version.

What do I need to do when my 30-day free period ends to keep using Fusion 360? When you sign-in to Fusion 360 after your 30-day free period has ended, you will see a pop-up dialogue box that says “Your Fusion 360 term has expired”. If you want to keep using Fusion 360, just click the “Explore Option” tab at the bottom of the box. From there you can pick the subscription offering that works best for you. How do I cancel my Fusion 360 subscription after my account has been charged? Once your Fusion 360 subscription is in place, go to your iTunes account and cancel your subscription.

If you are in the middle of the subscription period, your subscription will stop at the end of your subscription period and your account will no longer be charged. What happens to my Fusion 360 designs if I don’t renew my subscription? You will be able to access and export your Fusion 360 designs from your Autodesk 360 account at.

You will not be able to open and edit your designs from within Autodesk 360. What category will Fusion 360 be in?

Inventor

You can find Fusion 360 in the Graphics & Design category. You can go directly to Fusion 360 on the MAS from this URL. I have both a Mac and a PC. How do I download Fusion 360 on the Mac App Store and on my PC without paying twice? Download Fusion for PC from and login using the same user id and password that was used for the product purchased from Mac App Store. Once logged in your accounts will align and you will not be asked to pay again. You recommend that I download the Autodesk 360 app from the iTunes iOS store, why?

You’ll need to download the free Autodesk 360 app so you can access to your designs from your mobile device. You’ll be able to open, comment, share and manage your designs from wherever you are or your iOS or Android device.

You offer Fusion 360 free to students, educators, and startups on the Fusion site, why not on the Mac App Store? Fusion 360 is designed to run on both Mac and PC platforms. If you are a student, educator, or startup and want to use Fusion 360 free, you can download Fusion 360 from the Fusion 360 site at. To our users: thank you! We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all our users – the product would not be where it is today without your continuous support and feedback. It has been an incredible journey, and we’ve only just begun, and as always, keep sending us your feedback, we’re always listening. Cheers, The Fusion 360 team.

Hi sanguish, We’re continuing to offer the free maker license (it’s been renamed to the Startup license). Unfortunately we’re not able to offer this through the Mac App Store version of Fusion 360, so you’ll need to use the version from for this. Regarding Yosemite: naturally we’ve been testing since the initial Developer Preview build. We’ve ironed-out the major issues we’ve found and as far as I know there aren’t any signficant known problems currently, if you want to run on the Beta/Dev Preview. Although running on Mavericks/Mountain Lion is probably still a safer bet until the official release. Hope this helps!

Hi, I downloaded the Fusion 360 Trial yesterday from the AppStore to a mid 2011 Mac Mini and had some notifications that I was low on memory, not unexpected for integrated graphics. I’m assuming that the next generation Mac Mini will be sufficient in that respect, or at worst I’ll cough up for a Mac Pro, so I’m not to concerned at this point, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am to see this available to Mac users. My question is more in regard to how Fusion 360 fits with my intention to purchase a subscription and untimately a perpetual license for Inventor HSM, to replace GibbsCAM as my current CAM program (and possibly Solidworks as my MCAD primary program) running on a Windows 7 Workstation. My assumption is that I will have access to any models created in Fusion 360 and vice versa, as well as access to models created in SolidWorks, but I’m not sure if Fusion 360 is actually bundled with Inventor HSM or if I will need to purchase. Best Regards, Tom. Hello SMJTOM (ANON), Tom, Glad to hear you downloaded Fusion 360 and have been trying out the CAM functionality!

Just wanted to clarify the structure of HSMWorks/InventorHSM/CAM for Fusion 360; as well as if you’re looking for 2.5 Axis or 3, 3+2, 5-Axis. (more details at cam.autodesk.com) 1. HSMWorks requires you to already own SWx.

Inventor HSM (3-axis and higher) – We give you a seat of Inventor with InventorHSM 3. CAM for Fusion 360 with 2.5 Axis is $25 a month, and for 3-axis and 3+2 will be $100. (along with everything else Fusion itself offers – hard to resist) Hope this helps! Curtis, As you imply, the Inventor HSM version includes a seat of Inventor at the same cost (I think) as HSMWorks, so I’m more inclined to purchase that version. Still, I’ll probably gain some experience on Fusion 360 CAM before deciding whether to purchase Inventor HSM or Inventor HSM Pro which isn’t available yet. I don’t currently have 5 axis capabiltiy, but I have a friend who does and isn’t up to the progarmming of it, so I can probably justify to the upgrade to Inventor HSM Pro on that alone.
