Don't look to Mac OSX as a solution. Fonts are a nightmare since Adobe is not making ATM for OSX. Fonts that were usable in System 9 are corrupt in 10. And there is no utility like FontReunion except FontCard, but it does not see fonts activated after FH is opened. Anita pai kamat. I heard rumors that Apple is going to introduce new font management methods in next OS upgrade. I've seen some references to this issue, but I'd to know how many other people are affected by it: in Mac OS 9.2.2, FreeHand MX does not appear to work with ATM Deluxe or Font Reserve to activate fonts.

With either running (Font Reserve using ATM Light), if I activate fonts, they will display in all other applications, but FreeHand MX will only show fonts that are loaded in the System Folder. Does anyone know of any workarounds for this? Do other font managers (Suitcase, FontAgent Pro, Master Juggler) work? Has anyone heard anything from Macromedia about this issue? I did file a bug report with them after reproducing the problem on multiple systems.

Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is the name of a family of computer programs created and marketed by Adobe Systems for use with their Type 1 fonts. The current version is Adobe ATM Light 4.1.2, available from Adobe's FTP.

I know that the issue does not exist on Mac OS X, but at my site we don't have the option of upgrading all of our systems this year from OS 9. TIATamas Jakab. Don't look to Mac OSX as a solution. Fonts are a nightmare since Adobe is not making ATM for OSX.

I think that's an overstatement. I'm running OS X 10.2.6, Suitcase 10 and font management is smooth as silk. Brian Same here. Ron Ok, I did manage to solve the issue with FreeHand MX and OS 9.2.2. For those of you creating custom builds of OS 9 for large sites, make sure you have the FontSync extensions enabled for FreeHand MX to work properly. Regarding font management and OS X, I've worked primarily with Suitcase and Font Reserve Server, and I've found Font Reserve to be a pretty good replacement for ATM.

I'm looking at FontCard as a replacement for ATR, but I'm waiting until Unsanity gets the activation bug fixed, which should be in the next update. My biggest gripe overall with font management in OS X is that Apple did not implement things equally in Carbon and Cocoa applications. Fonts are much better to work with in Cocoa, but Apple needs to realize that 99% of real-world graphics production in OS X is done with Carbon applications. They really need to bring things up to parity with Cocoa. Ok, maybe you guys can help me. How can I take one font out of a suitcase?

With Suitcase 10, if there is a bitmap missing or something like that and I deactivate that font then all the fonts in a suitcase are deactivated. How can I separate fonts in a suitcase without going to Classic. Also, I have activated some fonts and suitcase hangs.

I have to force close it. When I relaunch the font that caused the problem is damaged. I have to remove it, then add it back and then it works. I use mostly Linotronic Type 1 fonts which were not cheap and worked fine up to now. Does anyone else have problems like these? Dp 'TJakab' emailwebforumsusermacromedia.com/email wrote.
