In some cases you don't need to disable the video port that is attatched to your motherboard. You can just purchase a new video card and when you insert it, plug your monitor cable into this port and when you start your computer it should be recognised.

Secondly if it is your computer that is having the problem, and it's not booting up, it could be a couple of things. First I would try checking to see if the CMOS battery is dead, the CMOS battery is a silver, flat, round like object usually looks like a watch battery, you may want to replace that.
